Our Mission

The mission of New Crossroads Academy is to provide Opportunity Youth, aged 16-22, with motivation, direction, and purpose to live to their potential and achieve their educational and personal goals. We will achieve this mission through collaboration with stakeholders to assist and mentor our students in a non-traditional environment that nurtures them academically, socially, and emotionally.

Schools & Students at the Center

When a student drops out of school, it can negatively affect the school’s A-F report card score. In contrast, when a student formally transfers to another school, the original school’s score remains unaffected. Understanding this distinction—dropout versus withdrawal—is essential for school districts striving to support their campuses through Arizona’s A-F accountability system.

New Crossroads Academy serves as a vital safety net, partnering with schools to re-engage students who have dropped out. This collaboration benefits both the student and the originating school, offering a pathway back to education and helping preserve the school’s accountability rating.

By bridging these gaps, NCA plays a key role in reducing Cochise County’s Opportunity Youth Rate. According to the Arizona Progress Meter, 17% of youth in Cochise County are classified as Opportunity Youth—defined as individuals aged 16–24 who are neither in school nor employed. The state’s goal is to keep this rate below 7%, and NCA’s outreach and support contribute meaningfully to that mission.
